A year ago our lives were completely different...
On this day last year, kile proposed. i never knew how much our lives would change with one event. I never thought that we would be planning this huge wedding when all we really wanted was a small intimate and romantic wedding. We had no clue where we would live when we got married...and now we have a house! a beautiful house that we picked together. I graduated with my associates degree....and need to decide where to go from here when life settles down.
Today makes 5 years that kile and i have been dating. it's been a crazy roller coaster....but i love kile more than i ever have and can't wait to have this amazing future that we have made plans for. thanks kile for all that you do and i love you!

It's official!
Well as of Tuesday (8/18) , we are homeowners!
We had quite an adventure, but now that's it's all said and done, I'm so in love with our house.
We had to sign papers at the title company in Dallas...we got lost. We were around 15 minutes late...once we started signing we notice that our insurance was listed wrong, so they had to draw up new papers. So we finished signing what we could and waited while new papers were drawn up. We got finished and started the drive back to our house to pick up keys, only to get stuck in rush hour traffic! We arrived at our house at around 6:30 pm right in time to meet the alarm guy who was a half an hour early. Shortly after that Kile's parents and mine plus my grandma who is in town visiting came over to help put up our blinds and ceiling fans. We went and got Roscoe's barbecue, and had our first family dinner at our house. <3
Wednesday, my dad worked on and off at our house getting the rest of the blinds done. Paul and kile and i joined him later on in the evening to finish up. We were able to hang 5 fans and 13 sets on blinds in two days. It looks so great!
We are exhausted but so EXCITED to have a place to call our own.

3 months to go!
Three months from now, I will be kile's wife! Holy smokes! Where has time gone? These next few months are going to be so busy, stressful, and awesome for our new life together. I'm so excited and ready for everything to come together, but geez....my list is so long for things to be done.
On the house side, we are going to be doing our final walk through probably the week of August 3rd. We should hear from our builder next week to lock in the date. Closing is set for August 17th. Right now, we locked in our rate at 5% and are getting our papers ready for closing. Our house is in its final stages of completion. It lacks carpet and touch ups. Our landscaping was done yesterday and it looks so great. Pictures coming soon!

Wooo Hooo!
As you know, Kile is a huge Dave Ramsey fan and being the fan he is, he has tried to get me to be just as big a fan as he is. He bought me the book and it was one of the only books that I could not make it all the way through. Instead of forcing me to read the book, kile taught me the basics of his teachings and from there i ran from it. Today is a milestone for me, i shredded and closed my last credit card after not using it in 3 months. This is a HUGE deal for me because i lived on credit cards. Today I'm debt free, have my $1,000 emergency fund (and it's still growing!), no credit cards and a strict savings plan. I never thought it would happen but it did! I'm proud of myself for getting it all straightened out and really working on our savings since we have such a big feat for this year. We have talked our our financial plans for the future and I look forward to achieving them. Our biggest two goals are to pay off our house in less than 10 years (6 is the goal) and to be able to live on one salary (the second will be nothing but savings). I'm excited to see if we can stick to our goals and achieve them.

Brick, Sheet Rock, and our House Meeting
From this:

To this:

This past week on June 23rd (happy birthday kile!), we had our pre-dry wall meeting. We ran through what would be happening next and the time line our house will follow. Our house is scheduled to be completed by August 7th, and we should have our pre-closing walk through somewhere around the 14th... closing will be anytime in the last two weeks of August or beginning of September if we can. Here are some pictures of the completed brick work and also the sheetrock.

This is a picture taken from the hallway leading to the kitchen and living room.

This one was taken in the living room looking towards the kitchen.

Back of our house
It's really hard to see in the pictures. We look forward to everyone seeing our house once we close and get everything set up.
